The city authorities are trying to provide residents as much activity as possible and make opportunities for spending free time in the city. Rawicz commune organizes many popular sport and cultural events. Authorities are always trying to make events of different characters and thanks to that every resident could find something in their interests.
Athletics Camp
Athletics Camp is an exceptional sports event organised for the students of primary and lower secondary schools. Olympic winners, Anita Włodarczyk, also the town’s resident, and Piotr Małachowski are the ambassadors of the event. During the camp, the kids compete in many popular athletic disciplines and take part in activities with different specialists, such as a dietitian, a psychologist and professional trainers. The aim of such meetings is to encourage children to practice sport and to attend physical education lessons.
24-hour Rawicz Sport Festival
Since 2011 the commune authorities have been organizing annual 24-hour Rawicz Sport Festival which is the biggest local event, what’s more, the only of its kind in Poland and even in Europe. During a 24-hour competition sportsmen of numerous disciplines fight to win. One of the most important is a relay race along the Planty Park of John Paul II, but there is also streetball, swimming marathon, bike marathon, football, beach volleyball, tennis and nordic walking. The main idea of this complex enterprise is to popularize physical activity and a healthy lifestyle. Another aim is to promote the Planty Park, which during the event is the main sporting venue for thousands of both professional and amateur sportsmen. All participants are offered many attractions presented in the so called Festival Town. The event has been awarded with several prestigious prizes, which ensure the organizers that they contribute into creating a sporting image of Poland. Additionally, the festival proves wonderful cooperation between the town authorities and business sector, public institutions, volunteers, the police, the fire service and nongovernmental organizations.
Rawicz Fairs
The fairs are organized four times a year and are closely related to the history and the tradition of Rawicz. They create a great opportunity for the exhibitors from different parts of Poland to present their products of various kind. At the same time an antiques fair takes place, together with numerous concerts, feasts, presentations, contests and exhibitions.
Rawicz Feast
During several days, Rawicz Feast offers a wide range of events localized in different parts of the town. Numerous community organizations, institutions and entrepreneurs are engaged to prepare and arrange the whole event. Everyone, people of any age, no matter if it is a local person or a visitor, can enjoy the concerts, displays, fairs, sports contests and family activities.
International Festival of Folk Musicians
This international project of Rawicz community has become an integral part of the town’s daily life. As it takes place in the town’s premises commonly used by the residents and guests, it creates an easy access to folk culture and tradition. The participants of the International Festival of Folk Musicians are mainly folk artists, invited from around Poland and from abroad, as well as folk music enthusiasts, local community members, children and students from local schools, the residents of Rawicz and neighbouring communes, and the players from music workshops. The main aim of the festival is to bring back to life the passion to music, to start a long lasting cooperation between the folk musicians, to create documentation and to archive folk culture together with its transformation. The hosts of the festival are the musicians from Rawicz commune, who propagate the culture and tradition of Chazak microregion.
FORMA - Polish nationwide Presentation of Modern Art
The event, continuing since 2001, covers music, theatre, dance, painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, film, performance and murals. This is an interdisciplinary project that in its artistic performances involves also the urban area, often strange places. It gives the possibility to encounter the activities connected with different kinds of art.
Rawicz Education Festival
Rawicz Education Festival has been continuously organized since 2002. The event includes Rawicz Education Fair and Job Fair for local students, together with shows, presentations and science workshops. Numerous educational institutions, such as secondary schools, postsecondary schools, language schools, universities, also job market representatives, employers, teacher training centres, preventive therapy centres present their offer during the event. The visitors have an opportunity to talk to the career advisors and consult a psychologist or a pedagogue.
Rawicz Economic Forum
Since 2015 Rawicz Commune has continuously hosted Rawicz Economic Forum. The town authorities want to show that being truly a commune of the 21st century, they not only understand business, but also would like to become partners with businessmen. During the meetings a series of questions is brought up which we try to find answers to, for example: how to communicate better, how to improve the procedures perceived by businessmen as disturbing, how to find employees in the time of falling unemployment level. The forum has been founded for entrepreneurs and local government officials.
